How to Have the Merriest Gluten-Free Christmas!

Rum-Balls

Christmas is now a little over 5-weeks away, and I’m here listening to my favorite Christmas music (Vince Guaraldi’s Charlie Brown Christmas), as I start to plan out what gluten-free Christmas goodies I’m going to make this year for my family and friends.

Do you know what Christmas treats you’re making this season?

Deciding which Christmas dessert recipes to make isn’t exactly an easy thing to do — especially if you’re saddled with a gluten allergy that stops you from diving deep into cookies, cakes and pastries made from regular glutenous flour. If you have a gluten allergy, you’re faced with the reality that you can’t use your tried-and-true family recipes because they use regular ol’ wheat flour — your nemesis.

For the first couple of years, when I had to go gluten-free, I didn’t even bother to make Christmas treats because I had no idea how to bake without wheat flour. And, let me tell you…going through Christmas without any kind of sweet treat was down right depressing.

And, now, even though I know how to bake gluten-free, I’m still on the hunt for amazing Christmas dessert recipes. I don’t want to faff about with gluten-free recipes that won’t deliver the goods — it’s a waste of time, money, energy and effort. And, who wants that headache, especially at Christmas?

A couple of weeks ago, when I first started to think about Christmas dessert recipes, I decided to ask my fellow gluten-free friends what they’re up to this season. And, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that my gorgeous friend, Leanne Vogel, of HealthfulPursuit.com just published her latest digital cookbook called Christmas Dessert Freedom: a Christmas cookbook filled with healthy, allergy-friendly Christmas miracles.
